About the "Unified Display Interface" Special Interest Group

The promulgation of digital standards in the computing and consumer electronics industries, including HDMI, HDTV, and DVI has created a problem for computer monitor and video card manufacturers. The VGA analog interface cannot fully accommodate the rich, multimedia signals that arise from products meeting these standards. Manufacturers need a new standard to replace VGA that will remain compatible with HDMI and DVI. Unified Display Interface is being designed to be that universal interface.

The UDI SIG is now in the process of setting all of the parameters for this proposed new industry interface and stands ready to champion its widespread adoption. We will:

  • work with member companies and industry experts to create a set of specifications for a robust interface that meets current and future industry needs
  • demonstrate the technical superiority of UDI to manufacturers and support plans for widespread utilization
  • market UDI to all appropriate industries
  • support member company participation

All companies who may be impacted by the switch from VGA to digital standards are invited to join the UDI SIG. We welcome your input and assistance in creating and supporting the next generation of unified display interfaces.
